I know it seems like an endless process when it comes to the Presidential election and certainly we have all been 
subjected to a few too many debates. Democratic or Republican, they have all been interesting and some have even been informative!
I thought it might be useful to review how our process of upcoming Caucuses and Primary elections work. We are still eight months away from the General Election in November but there is a lot of important work for each of us before then.
Listening to the national news one would think that the only important states in this selection process are elsewhere. But no! You have the chance to be a participant in the process for Washington.
Both parties -Democrats and Republicans, in Washington State have caucuses and primaries. They can choose which process (or combination) they will use to allot delegates to their National Conventions. The Republicans have chosen to use the Primary results to allot delegates and the Democrats will use the Caucus results to allot delegates.
Caucuses are an interesting process to participate in so if you align yourself with the Democrats plan to attend the caucus on March 26th. If you are a Republican then plan to vote in the mail-in Primary on May 24th. To vote in the Primary you will be mailed a ballot and a party declaration. You must identify which party you will vote for and then you can vote for one in that party’s ballot.

I encourage everyone to participate in the process early and not just wait to see who makes it to the General Election in November. All of our voices are important in this process, so please try to participate no matter your political point of view.

Saturday, March 5th: Centralia College welcomes The Filharmonic for the annual President’s Scholarship Concert at 7pm, on Saturday, March 5th, at Corbet Theatre in Washington Hall. The Filharmonic reached the semifinals in NBC’s hit musical competition, The Sing-Off. The group was later featured in the moviePitch Perfect 2. General admission tickets are $20; box seats are $30. Monday, March 7th: The Pacific Northwest chamber Orchestra presents Salute To The Silver Cinema on Monday, March 7th at 7:30, at Corbet Theatre, at Centralia College. The concert will feature music from Titanic, James Bond, Les Miserables, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars and more. It’s a tribute to decades of great music from the big screen. Admission is free.
Thursday, March 10th: Master Gardeners Presentation at The Gathering Place, here at Stillwaters Estates. The presentation starts at 10:30 a.m. and will cover topics from patio gardening to Q&A of your choice. Come join the group to learn from the Master Gardeners.
Thursday, March 10th: Movie Night at Stillwaters. This month’s movie is “The Intern” with Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway. The movie focuses on a 70 year-old intern and the business savvy he brings to the fashion industry. Join the laughs and if you are here by 5:45 you can join us for ice cream before the movie. The movie starts promptly at 6 p.m.
