Memorial Day:

Memorial Day weekend is upon us and that brings to mind childhood memories of taking flowers to the cemetery – in particular, taking Peony bouquets in large tin cans and placing them on the family graves.
Memorial Day was first commemorated after the Civil War to honor Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war. When first it was celebrated it was call Decoration Day and the placing of flowers on soldier’s graves was very common. The name changed to Memorial Day after World War II. Nowadays we use this day to honor all Americans who have died while in service.
Pause on Monday to especially honor the soldiers who have fallen. Pause every day to honor those who serve.

Monday, May26th: Memorial Day at Claquato Cemetery. Come join us at the Claquato Cemetery at 10am this Memorial Day for a special program to remember our heroes. The cemetery is located at 142 Stearns Road Chehalis, WA 98532. Call the museum at 740-8875 for more details. www.veteransmuseum.org
Weather: Our rainy weather will continue into next week with temperatures in the mid to upper 60’s. I know it is the typical Memorial Day weather around here but I sure did enjoy the sun and heat from the last few days.
