I am back from travels and for the first time ever, a break from blogging. Mr. Blogger and I ventured out with our RV and went to Yosemite Park in California where internet and cell service were not readily accessible. We had a great time enjoying the beauty and majesty of Yosemite and surroundings but I am back now and ready to blog and share life at Stillwaters.
Ordinarily, at this point, I would be sharing vacation pictures with you but our website is currently under “reconstruction” and I am limited as I can’t add new photos to the blog until this construction work is done. Arghhh… Just like road construction it seems to take forever to get the new construction done! …so I will move onto talking about Stillwaters, like normal.
We are gearing up for 4th of July in a couple weeks. Celebration of the 4th is really a city-wide celebration starting with a free pancake breakfast will be held from 7-10am at Kitchen #1 at Borst Park. From 10am-3pm, hang out in Borst Park for free entertainment and games!
Stillwaters hosts a BBQ and potluck lunch at noon on the 4th. This annual event is a nice opportunity to see neighbors and get out to enjoy a hopefully sunny 4th of July. Hot dogs and Hamburgers are provided by Stillwaters and residents are asked to bring a salad, appetizers or desserts. Plates, silverware, napkins and cups are provided. Drinks provided are coffee, lemonade and water.
After the BBQ, residents can then adjourn to downtown Centralia for the annual 4th of July Summerfest Parade at 4:00 p.m. This is always a fun parade to watch and there is always good places to put your lawn chair and watch the parade go by.
For the hearty souls there is a Destruction Derby and 4th of July Fireworks at the fairgrounds at 7 p.m. A nice way to round out the day.
Residents will begin to see our 4th of July decorating and I think for this year that will be the official welcome to summer!
Quote of the Week:
The talent of success is nothing more than doing what you can do well, and doing well whatever you do without thought of fame. If it comes at all it will come because it is deserved, not because it is sought after. – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Happenings this Week:
Swede Day in Rochester will be held on Saturday, June 17th! The day begins with a pancake breakfast at Swede Hall at 8am. After the breakfast, there’s a fun run. The parade begins at 11am at the Providence Clinic at Highway 12 and Paulson Street. There will also be many vendors, and of course, the swedish meatball lunch.
The Centralia Lions Club will have their annual Yard Sale on Friday, June 16th from Noon-3pm, and Saturday, June 17th, from 10am-3pm. The yard sale will be held at 1220 South Scheuber Road in Centralia. A Bake Sale will also be held that Saturday, 10am-Noon, featuring fresh out of the oven cinnamon rolls.
Weather:
We are sliding into some warm and sunny weather next week. Temperatures are forcast into the 80’s on several days to come. Enjoy the sun, remember your sunscreen and drink lots of water.
