It’s that time of year to talk about movies! Academy Awards are on TV this Sunday and so the nominations are out for all to see. How many have you seen?
Best Picture:
1. Arrival
2. Fences
3. Hacksaw Ridge
4. Hell or High Water
5. Hidden Figures
6. La La Land
7. Lion
8. Manchester by the Sea
9. Moonlight

Very often I get to this time of year and maybe have seen one of the nominated movies. I think I use the Academy Awards to pique my interest in what new movies I want to go see. That means I run about a year behind in seeing movies!
This year though I have seen three (how did that happen?) and I will be interested to see how they are viewed by the Academy voters.
Currently, you can see “LION” locally at the Midway Cinema or if you travel to Olympia this weekend you can see at least six of the nine listed. Looking for show times just type “Movie Theatre Olympia WA” into your browser and this will bring up the full list to scan through.
Another thing to note is that if you present your AARP card at any Regal Cinema you get a $3.00 discount on your popcorn/drink purchase. Given the price of popcorn this is a good deal.
Take in a movie this weekend and let me know what you think.
