National Preparedness Month is September and National Preparathon Day is September 30th! Preparathon just means it’s the day set aside for deliberately making a commitment to Disaster Preparedness. Our community and neighborhood, in particular, have made progress on disaster preparedness and you are encouraged to join in.
Here are 10 ways to Prepare, suggested from the Nation Preparedness site published by FEMA:

Here in Stillwaters we have our “Map Your Neighborhood” program in which each resident is encouraged to be a part of. At the end of this month I will be meeting with all eleven Area Leaders to update them on changes and additions to our preparedness plans. As a part of this updating process you may be asked by your Area Leader to update your household information or attend a neighborhood meeting.
This fits right in with personal preparedness and planning with neighbors, as seen above. If you have questions about Stillwaters Estates Preparedness, please contact me here at the office or by email at [email protected].
Also, next week “Mr. Blogger” Ed Mund is making a Community Presentation on Personal Safety and Preparedness. Wednesday, September 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Centralia College. The address is 620 Centralia College Blvd., New Science Center, Room 121.
This presentation is all about personal and family preparedness – How to plan, make a kit and practice your plan. As the Lewis County Preparedness Coordinator, he will also talk about the nationally recognized program we use called Map Your Neighborhood. The presentation will also be full of resources you can use to personally be prepared.
