I am sitting here on a sunny October day and thinking how soon the color and greenery we have enjoyed all summer and fall will soon be gone. These are some photos I posted on the blog in the past few months and are just a sampling of the gorgeous flowers here in Stillwaters Estates.
Below are some additional photos that I haven’t posted on the blog until now. Stop and smell the roses as they say – Enjoy!
Quote of the Week:
One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today. – Dale Carnegie
Happenings this Week:
Tonight: Movie Night at Stillwaters Estates. This month’s movie is called “61” in honor of the upcoming World Series. This is the story of Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris’s attempt to break Babe Ruth’s 1927 home run record. Ice Cream is served at 5:45 p.m. and the movie starts promptly at 6:00 p.m.
Friday, October 16th: Fundraising Breakfast for Pope’s Kids Place. 7:15 a.m. at O’Blarney’s Gibson House in downtown Centralia. $15 per person. This is a great local organization to support. For more information click HERE.
Friday and Saturday, October 16th and 17th: The Zonta Club of Centralia/Chehalis will be holding its annual used book sale at the Lewis County Mall. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Thousands of used hardcover and paperback books will be for sale: fiction, nonfiction and textbooks. There also will be a small selection of movies and music. Prices will start at $1 for paperbacks and $2 for hardback books. Prices will decrease each day. Proceeds will support Zonta’s scholarship programs and community charities, as well as international projects. Zonta awards a full tuition scholarship to a student attending Centralia College each year.
Thursday, October 22nd: Stillwaters Potluck night! Bring your favorite dish to share and join the fun. Dinner starts promptly at 6 p.m.
Weather: Enjoy today and tomorrow because the rain comes back on Saturday and stays with us for the next three or four days after that. We will get back to sunshine for a time after that but the days are beginning to shorten and get cooler as we edge closer to November and the holidays. Have a good week ahead. FYI: Only 71 days until Christmas!

The glorious colors of the dahlias are being relieved by the most wonderful color palette of autumn leaves. It seems this year they are especially colorful. Take a look north from the Mellon Street Bridge or the area east of the twin cities. On most days the cloud formations add to the spectacle. The wonders of nature seem to belittle what we humans do to each other in this world.
Enjoy the weekend!
