Bird Friendly – Stillwaters Style

Bird Friendly – Stillwaters Style

bird photoIt’s that time of year is here again – when our feathered friends come checking out birdhouses and looking for likely places to nest.  At my house I have two birdhouses that occasionally are occupied but for the better part of spring the viewing is the “looky loo” dance that goes on every day we have sunshine.

This morning was one of those days with birds swooping and visiting the birdhouses.  I love watching this ballet of spring!

With so many residents in the neighborhood who put food out for the birds I think you can honestly say that Stillwaters Estates is a bird-friendly neighborhood.

Here are some interesting tips for making your backyard more bird-friendly.  This is from the Nature Conservancy:

Happenings this week:

Exercise note:  No Energize exercise the next three Wednesdays.  Energize will return to the Gathering Place, Wednesday, May 13th.

Transportation note:  The Mellen street exit (Exit 81) off of southbound I-5 is now permanently closed.  As a part of the years-long project to create side avenues (Collector Distributor), the west-side roads have been mostly completed.  Now all I-5 southbound traffic to either Harrison or Mellen will exit at Harrison.  See  for more information.

Thursday, April 23rd:  Stillwaters Potluck night.  Dinner starts at 6 pm here in The Gathering Place.  All residents are welcome and encouraged to attend this opportunity to meet and greet your neighbors.  Bring your favorite dish to share and your plate.  Silverware and napkins provided.

Weather:  Sunshine at last!  We are enjoying a few days of sunshine and warmer weather and we all love it.  The forecast is for sunshine through next Monday and Monday’s high temperature will get into the high 70’s.  Enjoy!
