On this cold and chilly week in December I thought I would share some fun and very different websites and videos with you. As I have written in the past, I look through different websites, books and different sources for weekly blog inspiration. Sometimes this yields something pretty readily and other times – not so much! This week though I think I found some interesting items to share.
I decided to explore new and different websites and ran across one call “WiseBread.com”. It lists itself as “living large on a small budget”. The website is actually a community of bloggers all focused on living life to the fullest on a budget. The site contains a wide variety of topics and lots of fun reading.
My favorite article I found today on WiseBread.com was “25 ways to make yourself smarter today” – which was full of good ideas for keeping the brain fine-tuned. See: http://www.wisebread.com/25-ways-to-make-yourself-smarter-today
The second item to share is a YouTube video I honestly discovered awhile back – but was reminded this week of how amazing it was. It is all about an ice phenomenon that happens at Yosemite National Park. This really demonstrates the power of the web – in that this is something that the majority of us will never see in person, something called Frazil Ice. Seeing is believing so check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9V9p4mFEYXc. Nothing like watching a little YouTube video ice to keep you nice and warm!
Quote of the week:
When written in Chinese, the word crisis is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity. – John F. Kennedy
Happenings this week:
Friday, December 13th: The Centralia High School Jazz Choir is singing great Christmas music at 11:30, here at The Gathering Place. This is always a fun and talented group to hear! Come for the music and stay for the cookies and cider.
Saturday, December 14th: The 4th annual Lighted Tractor Parade through Centralia. Parade starts at 6 p.m. The route of the parade goes down Main and Tower. A great parade of lighted trucks, tractors and other rural vehicles is a fun event to see.
Sunday, December 15th: The Annual “Williams Christmas Buffet” for all Stillwaters Estates residents. This is an annual event for residents to be treated to dinner and homemade cookies and candies from the Williams. The buffet starts at 1:30 and residents are welcome to come by anytime up until 4:30.
Weather: Oh the weather outside is frightful…not really but as it warms up this week it will get rainy and stormy. The temperatures are supposed to be warm enough that we won’t see ice and snow for a few days (at least until Sunday or Monday).
